Founded in 2022 by Jane Smith, Kaimilan® has come a long way from its beginnings in a small home office. When Jane first started the business, her vision was to provide stylish and comfortable dresses that made women feel confident and beautiful, no matter their shape, size, or personal style.

Initially, Jane started off by designing and hand-making dresses in her spare time, slowly building up her catalog of designs. As word spread about the amazing quality and comfort of Kaimilan® dresses, Jane was able to grow the business beyond her wildest dreams.

Our Story

The Kaimilan® brand was born out of Jane’s lifelong love of fashion and her struggles to find dresses that were both fashionable and comfortable. After years of experience working in the corporate world, Jane decided to take a risk and launch her own business focused on creating the perfect dress.

Armed with her savings, some basic sewing skills, and a vision, Jane got to work designing dresses that combined flowing, feminine shapes with stretchy fabrics that moved with you. The focus was on dresses that made women look and feel amazing, not dresses that squeezed, pinched or restricted movement.

After months of hard work, the first line of Kaimilan® dresses was complete and an online store was launched. To get the word out, Jane reached out to fashion bloggers and influencers who tried the dresses and raved about the fit. Within days, the website traffic exploded as women everywhere wanted to get their hands on these magical stretchy, comfy dresses.

Since those early days, the business has grown exponentially but the Kaimilan® ethos remains the same. Every dress is designed for supreme comfort, made from the highest quality fabrics, and tailored to flatter women’s bodies. Jane now leads a small team of talented seamstresses who handmake each Kaimilan® dress with care.

Our Design and Production Process

While Kaimilan® has grown over the years, we remain devoted to the artistry and care put into each of our dresses.

It all starts with our in-house designers who find inspiration from the latest runway trends but keep wearability and comfort at the forefront. Each dress goes through an extensive design process focused on shape, structure, fabric selection and accessorizing.

Once a dress design is finalized, we source the highest quality materials locally and abroad. Our talented in-house seamstresses bring each dress to life, using time-honored techniques and paying meticulous attention to detail.

Every dress is handmade in our Los Angeles production studio where we can oversee and ensure a fantastic finished product. Our small-scale approach allows us to control quality in a way that mass manufacturing simply can’t reproduce.

Throughout production, our QC team checks the dresses for any defects and ensures they meet our rigorous standards. Only after thorough inspection are the dresses photographer for the website and carefully packaged to ship out to eagerly waiting customers.

We’re proud to still produce our dresses locally and remain hands-on in every step of the process. It’s a labor of love to bring these beautiful garments to life.
